The following partial audio has been supplied by a Subscriber.
Two items raise concerns.
- The audio ends with a Motion to go into Closed Session. [see note below] in relation to the acceptance of the donation of the current Lions Club building. The Subscriber notes the Village has a Donation Acceptance Policy approved in 2017.(view here)
- Tests show the current Village wells have 2 Parts Per Trillion of PFAS. See recent article from Grand Rapids Press – https://www.mlive.com/news/2018/12/scientists-say-pfas-health-limit-for-michigans-drinking-water-may-be-too-high.html
- And https://www.mlive.com/news/index.ssf/page/michigans_water_crisis_pfas.html
- A potential contamination site at a now defunct plating factory (previously a furniture manufacturing plant) was identified in the initial Wellhead Protection Report – but PFAS and PFOAS were not on the radar at that time.
There are specific permissions of when a municipality is allowed to go in to Closed Session:
(d) To consider the purchase or lease of real property up to the time an option to purchase or lease that real property is obtained.
As the Meeting audio, requested under MI Open Meetings Act ADA provisions, was terminated – the listener was unable to access any further meeting content.
