Recently Village subscribers have noted a slow moving vehicle pausing in front of vacant homes. A subscriber noted that a Village Council Trustee was thought to have been recognized. On enquiry of the Village Clerk the following was received:
“May 24: Larry Gibson, Blight Enforcement Officer & Trustee Greg McPherson, Chair for the Blight Committee, were doing a routine blight check in the Village of Bear Lake.”
“Suspicious Activity”? Obviously the person reporting this has more time than work!
As there have been several suspected minor thefts and acts of vandalism in recent months people are more vigilant and watchful. We are heartened that so many people are keeping an eye on their neighbors property when they aren’t there.
People always need to be aware of issues like this. I don’t know what the vehicle was but I saw a red pickup driving slowly up and down the village streets and did feel a bit uneasy about it!
We need to remember that it was a caring person who called 911 last year when the school natural gas line was vandalized – and certainly prevented a catastrophic explosion. https://bearlakemichigan49614.com/2016/07/31/within-an-inch-of-disaster/
Those individuals were never caught. In the event anyone does witness something that makes them uneasy just call 911.
