The sixth annual Sparkle in the Park will open for the holiday season on Saturday, Nov. 27 at 6 p.m. in the lakeside Hopkins Park, downtown Bear Lake.

The Bear Lake Promoters and the Bear Lake Village Council have partnered to bring another Christmas holiday lighting showcase for all to enjoy.  There is no admission fee, however a donation box is available for those who wish to help support the event.
“Opening night of Sparkle is almost as much fun as Christmas morning,” said Promoter Sparkle Chairman Pauline Jaquish.
Visitors are invited to join in the festivities by enjoying Sparkle’s World Famous Tailgate Chili, coffee, hot chocolate and cookies and it’s all FREE.
New this year will be a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus.  Rumor has it that they will be arriving around 6:30 p.m. with treats for all the youngsters who visit Santa.   Families are encouraged to bring their children and truly enjoy the sites and sounds of the holidays.  Parking is limited in the park, however, visitors can park on the main street of the Village and take a leisurely walk through Sparkle in the Park.

“Altogether there are over 60 people who start working in the park Nov. 1 to create individual sites, however, there are many, many hours spent prior repairing what is salvageable from the year before, designing new displays, and gathering the materials for the new sites,” said Jaquish.

“We all consider Sparkle in the Park Bear Lake’s gift to those who visit.  It’s very rewarding to see the hundreds of cars drive through each night,” said Jaquish.
